Canadian EDM Megastar DEADMAU5 announced as Headliner for Inaugural ELECTRIC PARK FESTIVAL

The latest event to join a growing outdoor music scene on the island of Jersey promises to be the biggest and best, as local promoters Rockit Entertainment prepare to unleash Electric Park this summer with a huge line up headlined by Canadian electronic dance music megastar, multiple Juno Award-winning and Grammy-nominated producer deadmau5.

One of the most respected electronic music producers on the planet, deadmau5 (pronounced ‘dead mouse’) is otherwise known as Joel Zimmerman, and his ability to push the boundaries of his talent grows at an equal rate to his fan base. At almost 15 million followers and counting across his combined social media channels, he’s a true superstar of modern times.

Adding to his already lengthy CV (six Grammy nominations, eight studio albums including one Platinum and three Gold-selling, countless worldwide club and festival headline shows), deadmau5 this year made his first foray into the movie business, scoring his first feature, the Jonas Akerlund-directed spy thriller Polar.

We at Electric Park are, understandably, thrilled that in the midst of an unrelenting recording and global festival schedule, deadmau5 has found time to drop in to Jersey to bring his combination of dark, forceful techno and complex, electro sounds to the newly established Festival at Howard Davis Park.

As if that weren’t enough to get Jersey’s music fans talking, we’re delighted to offer a top draw support bill on the Electric Park Main Stage, and there’s truly something for everyone. Main support for deadmau5 comes in the form of those bastions of British guitar pop The Kooks, whose singles “She Moves in Her Own Way” and “Shine On” are some of this millennium’s most recognised indie hits, and who made a welcome return after a four-year hiatus with hit 2018 album “Let’s Go Sunshine”.

They’re joined on the bill by legendary rockers 10cc, who have amassed over 30 million album sales worldwide. Best known for their immortal classic “I’m Not in Love”, 10cc have come to be rightly regarded as one of the most melodically inventive, brilliant bands that Britain has ever produced, and since the heights of their fame in the 1970s, they have amassed generation after generation of new fans.

Last but by no means least, Bristol’s favourite musical alchemists Laid Blak open the proceedings at Electric Park 2019. Their heady cocktail of reggae, hip hop, bhangra and “street soul” influences has converted a cult following and made them favourites at festivals like Glastonbury, Boomtown, Shambala and surely, as of this August, Electric Park.

ELECTRIC PARK is a brand new outdoor music festival from Rockit Entertainment, whose co-directors are Daniel Matthews and Warren Holt, former co-director and founder of Jersey Live Music Festival, which ran from 2004 – 2016.

Rockit Entertainment have brought performers including Passenger, Echo & The Bunnymen, James Blunt, Jake Bugg, Alison Moyet and The Australian Pink Floyd to the Channel Islands over the past three years, and next month bring 80s pop icons The Human League to the Royal Jersey Showground. But Electric Park, their brand new 7,000 capacity event in Howard Davis Park, marks their first foray into the outdoor festival scene, and a brand new chapter in the story of live music in the Channel Islands.

Warren Holt, Co-Director:

“Having had some amazing years organising Jersey Live Festival from 2004-2016, it has taken a further three years of building a new and exciting concert promotion company which is Rockit Entertainment, it’s now time for us to step out of the concert hall and head outdoors to give the Channel Islands what we hope is one of the most exciting line-ups it’s ever seen.”
